KAUSHIK BABA

On 19th February 1947, the day when people are celebrating Maha Shivaratri by chanting mantras and singing songs in the praise of Lord Shiva, the aroma of gaiety and holy spirit started spreading in the whole society, people were in enchanting mood and unaware that the world is blessed at the sacred moment when Kaushik Baba took his birth at the royal family of Chandrabhan Chand Kaushik(father) & Musaffi Chandra Kaushik(mother) of Hata Bazar, District Gorokpur in Uttar Pradesh. The name Gorokpur, where Baba was born, derived after the name of saint Goroknath also known as the land of Holy Spirits since it produced a number of world famous saints.

Second among four brothers and four sisters Baba's original name was Knowar Mahendra Pratap Bahadur Chand Kaushik although his Guru Sufi Sant Benjir Shah Kadri had given him another name Prem Nath Kadri when he realised that Baba has a heart that resembles with the never ending ocean of love, feeling and affection for the downtrodden, deprived and destitute fighting against their ill fate. It is a rare occasion when a Guru allows his disciple to carry his surname and here Sufi Sant Benjir Shah Kadri did the same to Baba after he considered him as his son

Followed by his academic years Baba joined defence service at the age of 21 and after a tenure of around 5 years with Indian Air Force (IAF) he left the job for the greater cause of serving humanity by leading people towards the path of divine glory. But nothing came to him so easily as there were no royal road towards spiritual attainment. He did not dread the fatiguing climb towards the steep path of this journey before he attained the luminous summit of spiritual world. He spent several years in search of a spiritual guide and finally his search came to an end when he found Sufi Sant Md. Benjir Shah Kadri, the 42nd Sufi of the great heritage that begins right from Paygamber Hazrat Muhammad. The holy Graveyard (Pujya Samadhi) of Sufi Sant Md. Benjir Shah Kadri is now situated at his homeland. Illiahabad.

After resigning from IAF at the age of 26 he kept himself isolated from home as every saint does to begin their journey towards spiritual exploration. During this period Baba spent several nights without sleep and several days without food. His wife joined to accompany him in this vigorous spiritual journey to attain wisdom and divine blessing. Baba's devotion and practice to attain the spiritual divinity took 16 long years of severe pain and passion to get final blessings from his spiritual leader and guide. During the period of Sadhana, he passed through a rigorous state of poverty and starvation. He carried a jeep car with him the hood of which was his only roof above head and inside space was the shelter to protect him from the scorching sun, chilling cold, heavy shower and hectic wind. Baba's spiritual Sadhana started in Kasimabad. District of Gazipur (U.P.). At the beginning he lived alone in the remote forest far from the madding crowd secluded from the rest. Later his family joined to accompany him. 'Ramchandra spent 14 years in exile but Baba spent 16', that's how his followers say in praise of him. Baba is taking a lot of pain to uplift people from complete darkness to divine salvation.

Baba holds three Fakiri Gaddis (seats) under his possession viz Kadria, Jahangiria and Muhammadia, which are considered as the highest Fakiri Gaddis in the world and holding three Gaddis by one Sufi was unimaginable before him. Baba, one of the greatest saints that the earth has ever produced is the first Fakir from Hindu origin on the Parampara of 43 Great Fakirs of the world.

There is a firm belief amongst disciples & devotees that Baba can do anything he likes since he attained the pinnacle of spiritual ladder that a man can ever achieved. The power he attained cannot be expressed in words. More we speak about him is less since it is beyond our limitations to describe his spiritual accomplishment. Despite all achievements, Baba is humble, amicable and generous looking forward for a spiritual world free from violence, enmity, power mongering and crime. Darwin told us about the survival of the fittest, Gautam Buddha taught to live and let live. But Baba accentuates that he lives best who lives for others. His eternal wisdom and virtue teaches us to get enormous pleasure out of selfless service to all living beings. We believe that the world is blessed with the arrival of such spiritual leader in this earth.
